A child's education.....

A child's education ........

Is not limited to what is learned in school. School provides only the bare minimum that every child needs. The bulk of educational responsibility lies on the parental shoulders. Parents need to engage their children in learning activities every day from the time the child is an infant until he leaves the home .

This does not translate into providing a child with worksheets. It does, though mean providing a stimulating environment rich in learning activities. It means reading to your child every day, modeling learning activities such as writing and math and taking the child to places like the grocery stores, museums, parks and sporting events . Parents can turn everyday experiences into teachable moments.

Parents can talk about current events while watching the news, play board games together or make scientific observations while looking at the stars or taking a walk in the park.
