Alphabetic principle and phonemic awareness are so important in Kindergarten. Beginners' success in learning to read are greatly attributed to phonemic awareness skills. To ensure that children learn how spoken language maps onto written language, letter knowledge and phonological awareness are taught together.
- It is important to practice reading every night.
- Keep current with your child's progress.
- Schedule a teacher conference if your child is needing more help.
Since parents are usually a child's first teacher, it is very important to form a team effort to make the kindergarten learning process rewarding and successful.
