Primary Library Procedures

  1. Each student may check out one book at a time.
  2. Books are due no later than 8:30 AM on the day before the students visit the library. Books may be returned earlier. (Students visit the library the same day once a week.)
  3. If a student is consistently late returning a book or takes several weeks to return a book, the librarian may ask the student to not take another book home and keep it in their classroom until it is demonstrated that he or she can return it on time.
  4. If a student damages a book and it cannot be repaired, the student will have to pay the cost of replacing the book. If the student damages another book and pays for it, the librarian may ask the student to not take another book home and keep it in their classroom until it is demonstrated that he or she can take care of a book.
  5. If a student loses a book, the student will have to pay the cost of replacing the book. If the student loses another book and pays for it, the librarian may ask the student to not take another book home and keep it in their classroom until it is demonstrated that he or she can be responsible for a book.
  6. If a student does not turn in books on time or damages books or loses books, he or she may not be allowed to check out brand new books.
  7. A student must have a clear library record in order to receive a report card.
  8. A student must follow the library rules and directions given by the librarian in order to check out a book.
